21 days To a closer walk with Thee (Day 9)

Good morning. We are almost halfway there. You still have time to join in. I pray this has blessed you as much as it has blessed me. Here are our verses for today:
1And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
2And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
3Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
4I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
There goes that word work. Yall know how much I love that. This guy was born blind just so Jesus could come and heal him. And just like before, Jesus did the work He was sent to do and healed him.

14And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.
15Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.
16Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
They tried to accuse Jesus because of the miracle He performed on the sabbath. But Jesus is the creator of the sabbath. They would have rather this man remained blind. Some were confused because although they felt he disobeyed the sabbath, what He did was a great thing. God does not give honor when someone goes against His will. Jesus would not have done this, if it was in fact a sin. Jesus could not, would not, and didn't sin.

29We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is.
30The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.
31Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
32Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.
33If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.
34They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
The man who was once blind was speaking up for Jesus. He is saying no one, not even Moses, or Abraham has ever been able to open the eyes of someone born blind. In that time, being born blind was considered a result of sin. It was God's punishment. If that is the case, then only someone who God appoints would be able to reverse the so called punishment. The only person capable of doing that, is God Himself. But they cast him out as well because they believe he was born in sin. We all are born to sin.

35Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
36He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
37And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
38And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
39And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
40And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
41Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
By healing this man who was once blind, the man became a believer. However those who don't believe and only see from their point of view, will continue to remain in sin. We too were once blind, but now we see. By believing in Christ, we are free from sin. Q

Have a blessed day. Q

Verses 20-23 stood out to me.
20. "We know he is our son," the parents answered, "and we know he was born blind.
21. But how he can see now, or who opened his eyes, we don't know. Ask him. He is of age; he will speak for himself."
22. His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jews, for already the Jews had decided that anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was Christ would be put out of the Synagogue.
23. That was why his parents said, "He is of age; ask him."

So the parents KNEW who Jesus was and the miracle he had performed was of His Father. However they were afraid to acknowledge it for fear of being thrown out of the synagogue. They were not willing to make the sacrifice in exchange for standing up for what they believe. Look not only at your religious beliefs, spiritual beliefs, or denomination doctrine, but anything that you have stood for. Are you willing to sacrifice the comforts of life to stand by those beliefs? Granted things of this world will pass away and in the end are truly not important, but standing up for right is what defines our character. These parents were willing to throw their child under the bus so they would not be put out of the synagogue. A building people!! They basically denied Christ to continue to have access to a building!! I remember one of the school shootings (sad that we've had so many that they blur together) where one of the girls in the library was asked if she was a Christian. She answered yes and was then shot to death. If that question would have determined you living or dying, how would you have answered? Some of the things we think we are living for are truly killing us.
