21 Days to a Closer Walk with Thee (Day 2)

Good morning everyone. I woke up this morning feeling so blessed. During my prayer time, I prayed for each and every one of you guys. I am so happy about this journey. So today we are studying John chapter 2. Because the bible is so extremely rich and one verse can preach all by itself (I've done this before) we are going to once again focus on some key verses from this chapter.

4Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

10And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

16And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.

17And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.

18Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?

19Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

20Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?

21But he spake of the temple of his body.

22When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

25And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man

I'll be back with my thoughts a little later. Q

I looked at verses 16 and 19. From 16, should churches have bookstores or coffeeshops in the church building, on the church grounds or any where near the sanctuary. From verse 19, I see the disciples as "doubting followers" because it reads that they did not believe until the resurrection brought to their rememberance these words, and THEN they belived the scriptures and the words Jesus had spoken. So why was Thomas singled out for his unbelief? They had the same unbelief according to that scripture.

It wasn't the selling that made Jesus mad. They were also gambling and they wasn't using the temple for it's true intent which was to worhip God. So although it was called a temple, it was only one in name alone and not in works. If a church has worship services, bible study etc and also has let's say a bookstore, it's still has it's main focus which is for the people of God to come and praise and worship Him.

Thomas was singled out later because it says he was not with the disciples when Jesus came. But no he wasn't the only one because remember Jesus also predicted Peter's betrayal of him. Q
